Our packaging solutions against food waste
Our mission to reduce food waste is perfectly embodied in our products, as vacuum bags are designed to prolong the freshness and shelf life of food. Every year globally, approximately 1.3 billion tons of food are wasted, a figure that motivates us to act responsibly. Our solutions not only help preserve the quality of food but also reduce the environmental impact associated with food waste.
United against food waste
In 2024, we decided to take another step forward in our fight against food waste: we actively support the Refettorio of Modena through our collaboration with Food for Soul.
In addition to an annual monetary contribution and the donation of our vacuum bags, which help keep the Refettorio's food fresher for longer, we actively participate as volunteers, joining the efforts to serve meals and provide practical support to the Refettorio's guests.
This initiative not only reflects our values of sustainability and social responsibility but also encourages us to look beyond our company and industry to actively contribute to building a fairer and more inclusive community with a more sustainable food system for all.
Food for Soul and the Refettorio of Modena
The Refettorio of Modena is much more than a place where meals are served. It is a significant project promoted by Food for Soul, the global non-profit initiative founded by Chef Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore that transforms unused spaces into vital community hubs where people in need can access warm and nutritious meals.
Every Monday and Thursday, up to 80 guests, including economically disadvantaged families, the elderly, and marginalized individuals, can enjoy meals prepared with ingredients that would otherwise go to waste. The food served at the Refettorio comes from surplus or near-expiry products. The menu is prepared by Chef Matteo Reggiani of the Auxilium Foundation, while the service is managed by a team of 400 volunteers.
Food for Soul's refectories are a global initiative, currently operating 12 projects in 9 countries worldwide.
