We know: as a packaging company, we are responsible for the way our work impacts the environment and society. And even though we do our best to keep things clean and green, packaging operations do leave a footprint.
We embrace this responsibility. By making eco-friendliness one of our priorities, and building efficiency into every step. From choosing traceable raw materials to using green energy and optimizing resource consumption, we’re constantly seeking and finding new ways to make our production processes more sustainable. Because caring for future generations starts with the choices we make today.
We believe that the smart use of resources is the way to go for more sustainable packaging. So, we adopted an advanced multilayer extrusion process that allows us to reduce film thickness by up to 20%. This makes a real difference not only for the environment, but also for you, as it streamlines logistics, optimizes shelf space and boosts production speed. There’s more: by investing in lightweight structures, we help reduce transport emissions and overall material consumption. Plus, we put reusable plastic pallets to good use in our internal operations.
Imagine a future where there’s no such thing as waste – only resources that get a second life. That’s what we are aiming for by integrating zero waste methods and advanced eco-conscious materials into our production. Our in-house recycling processes allow us to reuse 100% of post-industrial waste, putting it straight back into our films. Through 11-layer cast coextrusion we manage not only to reduce the amount of material in our packaging, but also to include up to 12% recycled content in our Amilen films. As you read this, our lab people are working to push that percentage even higher.
For now, we recycle up to 2,500 tonnes of material – the equivalent of 125 truckloads – every year.
When you work with us, you know you can count on packaging made with minimal energy use and a focus on renewables.
In 2011, we introduced a DIN EN ISO 50001-certified smart energy management system, and all our facilities cover as much as possible of their energy demands through renewable sources. Our Campogalliano site, for instance, is equipped with a photovoltaic system generating an additional 443 kWh of clean power. On our journey towards a zero-waste future, it feels good to have the sun on our side.
We take great care in guaranteeing our staff fair and safe working conditions and a supportive environment in which to thrive.
Sometimes, however, making a real difference requires being where you are needed, not only where you’re expected. This is why we also partner with local food banks and community initiatives to help ensure that everyone around us is supported and provided for.
